A Blog Design Which Inspired Me Lot
Yesterday I was surfing on the net and I have found amazing blog design and I couldn’t stop myself writing about that design and uniqueness about that blog. generally we have consider left or right side post listing, links of different pages on the top, social media icons on left bar and archives on upper or lower part which may be in left or right. This blog redefining the way you might have observed different blogs and the way different things are arranged. Perfect arrangement of content in given space which gives maximum accessibility to your visitors is the main objective of blog and the blog which I have been taking about have violated all the guideline for ideal blog design which I was considering before visiting this blog hence seems to provide good exposure on content.
Blog URL: 24Ways.org
Common features
The first thing I have observed different it’s in header. As I have said we use to display links for archives in footer or in left side. In above blog, they have displayed archives links horizontally which works as menu and clicking on each link would display all the post written in that specific year. Further they have used three layer transparent backgrounds which positioned with care which don’t oversize other objects in design. This way they have added logo on second layer, front menu on first layer and archives links on third layer. It has been designed with only two colors hence look very attractive and charming. At intro page they have listed 24 posts which suit to the concept of website which is 24 ways and each post has been covered with two small thumbnail images on left and right one for the date when it is published and second with author image who has written that post. Clicking on author page would take you to detail author page which also has good points to talk about. This way they have added all the important links and information on header and kept the right side bar blank with blog information only which would remain as it is on the entire detail post page.
Design of Detail post page
On the inner post page, left bar display information about the post author with link to its main author page. Generally if you want to see the comments on post, we have to scroll down and designer used to display at end of post. The post page further divided in two sections at top; first display the actual content of the post and second display comments as shown in below image. Upper left bar has been filled with the relevant post with relation to main post and which is the best example of implementing UX blog design.
Author page design
One thing I have observed is the reflection of brand and author. Author page includes clear image of author on left bar with information on who author is and right side contains the list of the posts written by that author.
Working in Chicago web design firm, finding out such an inspiration motivate us to think differently and design something creative and this is the main reason why I like to share this with you.
